Before I had reached the age of 10, Simon and Schuster received my first writing endeavor, a children’s book (naturally). My first rejection! As I got older, my mother handed me a Victoria Holt book and I found a role model, but I realized I had a more contemporary voice.
Drawing on journalism classes in high school when I worked on the school newspaper, along with college writing courses, I decided it was time to focus my fiction writing. With the influences of Stephen King and Rod Serling, I discovered a supernatural element creeping into my romances, just enough to add suspense without stretching imagination too far. I always find myself wondering about that dream I had last night . . . or did I just imagine hearing someone on a train or seeing something in a painting that everybody else missed?
